Painting Firm Boasts Well-Educated Painters

By Sherry Sundick

University Painters didn’t get its name from being near a university but because its emphasis is on well-educated painters. “Primarily we hire college students so we can pass on savings to our clients,” said Paul Goldstone, regional manager. He explained that the company hires bright, hard working students and gives them thorough training. “We think the training is very important,” he said.

Goldstone has a B.S. degree from Pennsylvania State University. He comes from a construction and real estate family – both his grandfather and uncle were builders.

Goldstone is from Pennsylvania, where the company was founded. Eleven months ago he moved to Northwest Washington. University Painters now has branches in Northwest Washington, Virginia and as of June 30, will have on in Maryland.

The company has customer service representatives available seven days a week, provides complete written proposals on jobs and gives two-year guarantees. Outlet managers have three to five years’ experience. Goldstone emphasizes that the firm is not only fully licensed and insured but also has $1 million general liability insurance.

Goldstone said the company uses top-of-the-line paints, with individual preferences considered.

University Painters does mostly residential work as well as some commercial jobs.

“We say we are the educated choice in home painters,”
